On the evening of February 24, 2008, almost 5 years to the date of her mother's death, Tiffany Hudak was crowned Mrs. Georgia United States 2008! She is honored, overjoyed and extremely humbled to be representing the married women and mothers in this great state.

She has dedicated this year to her mother Sherry Bridges, who passed away from lung cancer very suddenly and unexpectedly. She is hoping that the title of Mrs. Georgia will bring much needed recognition and awareness to this particular disease.

Tiffany has been a spokesperson and volunteer for the National Lung Cancer Partnership for over two years and recently founded the inaugural Athens Free To Breathe 5 K Walk/Run. She is proud to say that the race was a huge success and raised over $5,000! Unfortunately, current lung cancer funding is extremely inadequate and continues to lag far behind that of the other cancers. More than 160,000 indiviudals in the U.S. die every year from lung cancer--this is more than colon, breast, liver, prostate and melanoma combined!

There is a rather large stigma attached to lung cancer and therefore, patients often get "blamed" for their disease because they were/are smokers. Tiffany smoked for 15 years and just celebrated her 2-year quit anniversary on May 17, 2008, which just happens to be her birthday. She was even featured in the September 2007 issue of Health Magazine on how she was able to kick the habit. Tiffany is adamant about the fact that no one EVER deserves to get cancer and is determined to do her best to eradicate the negative attitudes towards patients.

The National Lung Cancer Partnership is the only lung cancer advocacy organization founded by physicians and researchers. Their mission is to decrease deaths and help patients live longer, healthier lives.

Tiffany is a Georgia native and graduate of North Georgia College & State University. She holds a bachelors degree in nursing and is currently employed as a part-time surgical nurse at Saint Mary's Hospital in Athens, GA. She also works from home as a legal-nurse consultant, a full-time mom, and of course, performs all the duties required of a "domestic goddess". Tiffany has been married to her wonderful husband, Don, for 8 years and they have one son, Grant, who is five.
